My local City Council is different from many of my peers. This is the result of living far from school. My house is in the Monash city Council although it borders the Council of White Horse. This means that my local community is split between the two areas. Some happenings or changes in the City of Monash are:

Discounted Pet Micro chipping

Council is providing a $10 subsidy to residents on the cost of micro chipping your dog and cat

Recycling/Green Waste Collection Days

Recycling and green waste collection days 2006/2007

School Crossing Supervisors

Monash City Council has vacancies for the role of School Crossing Supervisor

1 Bedroom Independent Living Unit

Monash Council has a 1 bedroom unit in Elizabeth Street, Burwood ready for occupancy

In the City Council of White, various other change occurred. Examples of such are listed below:

Whitehorse Rd and Tram 109

The extension of tram route 109 along Whitehorse Rd has raised issues for cyclists with the installation of new platform stops. See link (right) for more.

Gardeners Creek Trail

June 04. Bicycle Victoria has written to council to request that improvements are made to the Gardeners Creek Trail. Suggested improvement includes:

·                                 Centre line marking to clearly define where the trail goes, particularly at intersections with minor paths and at road crossings. The trail appears to 'disappear' in places and it is not obvious where it continues.

·                                 Realigning the trail on the south side of Burwood Rd to improve the connection to the pedestrian crossing

·                                 Improving the connection of the trail at Box Hill Golf Course between Station St and Sycamore St and make the existing on-road bits more legible.

Jan 03. Whitehorse council opened the Box Hill South section of the Gardeners Creek trail. The trail runs from Canterbury Rd to Box Hill Golf Club, and then continues on local roads to meet the existing path from Station St to Warrigal Rd (Mel way ref 61 E2-D3). This section of trail had previously been fenced off from public access after concerns were raised by the Golf Club in May 2001.

Principal Bicycle Network Routes in Whitehorse:

·                                 Station St

·                                 Middle borough Rd

·                                 Whitehorse Rd

·                                 Canterbury Rd

·                                 Springvale Rd

·                                 Surrey Rd

Each of the listed changes are taken from their respective websites. To alter them would void their legitimacy and possibly make them false
