Things can be tempting

What: Impulsivity is the second of the Habit of Mind. Before being acquainted to it’s meaning, we resolved that it meant acting before thinking. An example of this is blurting out a response to question in class, before being asked by the form teacher. The dangers of impulsivity are many and varied. In some situations, they incur minor problems, while in others they spark dire problems. An example of such is if you punched or physically attacked a friend who has irritated you. This may have been an impulse where you did not comprehend the consequences in your rage. The result is that you might loose that friend.

The table bellow shows how the class would act if everyone one managed their impulsivity

Sounds Like

Looks Like

Sleeves rubbing against shirt as they raise their hands

Hands held high in air as to answer a question

Quiet unless someone is speaking upon permission

The image of only one person’s mouth moving (speaking) at one time

Students answers being thorough and well thought through

Students keeping their hands and feat to themselves unless they have a logical explanation

Students not blurting out the first answer that comes to their mind (being irrational)

People not responding to any indecent action by other classes
